we have always practice this and slowly our son is coming around with his eating not everyday we can say its good but we r getting there. we also find that if we dont watch our son eat he does alot better because he is not getting the attentoin.like most autisic kids they like the reaction they get.thank u michelle

Adams eating habit is still the same very limited. I think the source is his formula but therapists have seen him around food.He has a phobia to food. Im at a loss.should i take his formula away. Pedia sure.??

Hi Monique,

Your formula is really great but sometimes as a career woman makes me feel limited to access my son. After I read through Jack’s example, I try to link with ‘poor sleep pattern’ which I told you last year.

BEHAVIOR TO TREAT – Poor sleeping during night time.
SENSE – He like to move a lot.
FEEL – Have more energy & something trouble like he’s hungry and wants to suck something in her mouth. (He still use milk bottle to drink instead of cup for milk)
THINK – I’m note very sure about this.
LEARN – Note sure about this too.

I still need more understanding with your DVDs, maybe, Right now in order to make him sleep, I’ll make sure he just take a nap during day time and give him early dinner at 7pm. And sing a song that he loves to.

I think the ‘penny really dropped’ for me reading this!

We’re constantly trying to make sense of all of our son’s various behaviours, and treating some of them has been a real struggle.

No one in the 2 years that we’ve been doing therapy has ever put it all clearly into perspective like this.

The pyramid model really makes a lot of sense for us, that there are all these other things going on under the surface that we need to understand about our son first.

I think this really will change the way we think about his treatment going forward. So thank you!

I also agree that it can make a huge difference when parents try to learn as much as they can about their child. This is something my husband and I have tried to do ever since our son’s diagnosis and it has certainly helped a lot and we feel much more able to help him.
